I purchased these for use in my martial arts/ heavy bag training classes where there is a lot of bouncing on the balls of my feet and pivoting for kicks. I’m very happy with the amount of cushioning. They’re incredibly comfortable. I ordered a half-size up as recommended and am happy. Also, I receive compliments on these shoes all the time. Plus, they look great with jeans and shorts. Everytime I put them on, I amazed at the comfort. I will buy several pairs of this shoe.
When I first started doing jazzercise in mid January, My right knee began to hurt so badly I could hardly do the moves. Being 48 and returning to exercise after being away for five years, coupled with a history of long distance running I thought it might be something I would have to learn to work with. But it got worse. Having a history with running I knew the importance of investing in good shoes and someone suggested Ryka’s for the type of aerobics we did in jazzercise – jumping, turning, twisting. Within one week of wearing the right shoes I had no more pain. Even the instructors comment on how high I jump and how much fun I have in class, not to mention the 15 lb weight loss in 5 weeks. I found an awesome deal on Amazon and haven’t looked back.
I use these shoes for Zumba. I needed something light with a smooth bottom. I ordered them elsewhere as they were cheaper.
At first I thought I wouldn’t be able to wear these as they were too narrow in the instep (I also have this problem with Nike and usually wear Adidas). My foot is not narrow, but a Wide shoe is too big. I wore the shoes anyway, and they did develop some “give.”
The only problem is that the sole is thin, and sometimes after doing heavy duty Zumba for an hour on a wood floor, my insteps can feel a little sore or burning. But it doesn’t last long.
I wear a size 6 in regular shoes, and a 6 1/2 in athletic shoes. I ordered a 7 in this shoe and it fits. Also, I’ve had no problems with my ankles in this shoe, it seems supportive enough for me.
